How to use Chicken Bone broth PDF Print E-mail

There are several easy ways to utilize the traditional bone broth.

****WARNING****Never put bone broth or really any food for that matter into a microwave oven.  Microwaves denature food and are harmful f to humans.  For more information on this topic see www.mercola.com.

#1 As a tea.   My  favorite way to use Bone broth.  Simply heat to a simmer in a small pot ( stainless steel preferred) add a few sprinkles of a good quality sea salt and sip as you would any other tea.  Take this at night before bed or a few hours before bed to effectively coat your Gastro intestinal ( gi)  tract.  As a tea my wife and I have both had the effect of calming and relaxing as well.  The Broth promotes digestion and assimilation and taken before meals and with meals is very effective way to utilze it.   You can alos increase the potency by adding freshly grated ginger, fresh herb leaves, or even drops of essential oils.

Another great addition is to add a teaspoon of pure organic coconut oil in just before serving.

#2  Soup and sauce.   Bone broth is essentially the basis for many soups and sauces.  By utilizing this traditionally made broth you will be adding the many benefits listed to your diet, health and healing regimen.  Any soup can easily be created by adding vegetables to this broth.  For sauces simply add to the pan as you are cooking various meats.   A simple miso soup is made by adding your favorite miso,  follow instructions though miso should never be even simmered just melted in cooling stock.

#3 To cook grains.   Bone broth adds flavor, protein and most importantly digestibility to your grains.  Simply replace all part of your liquid for the grains with Bone broth.  This could get expensive if you eat a lot of grains so we suggest making your own.  See the article and recipe posted on the how we  make it button.    See Sally Fallon’s Nourishing Traditions for more on grain cookery.   (www.wapf.org)

#4 To cook vegetables.  Adding both broths to vegetables will add the additional flavor, as well as the nutrients from the broth to your vegetables.  The uses here could include, making mashed potatoes using broth instead of milk or cream,   braising longer cooking vegetables like Brussels  sprouts, cabbage, or leafy greens like  kale, collards and even spinach.

#5  Reheating plan over’s.  Simply place plan over’s into a stainless steel pan and add a few ounces of Bone Broth.   Place on low to medium heat and cover.  The steam gently reheats your food and adds  the benefits of broth while creating a lovely gravy and enhancing digestion.
